Veteran Knowles to stand down

VETERAN North West businessman Roger Knowles said today he planned to stand down as chairman of surveying group Baqus.
The 71-year-old from Mere, Cheshire, was a key figure in creating Baqus two years ago as he brought three firms of quantity surveyors together and floated the business on AIM in December 2007.
Mr Knowles will stand down next week, but will continue as a consultant to the group.
Prior to Baqus Mr Knowles built up, floated and sold Warrington-based construction dispute resolution company James R Knowles.
Clive Sayer, chief executive of Baqus said: “On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Roger for his leadership and guidance during the flotation process and Baqus’s early years on AIM.
“It was his vision that laid the foundations for Baqus to become one of the first publicly quoted quantity surveying companies in the UK.”
He said senior non executive director Norman Cave would supervise the board until a new chairman was appointed.
