Jobs saved in SIAS deal

THE Crewe-based maintenance division of SIAS Building Services has been sold to a quoted air conditioning company.

West Yorkshire-based SIAS Building Services and SIAS Holdings went into administration earlier this month with the loss of 136 jobs.

The group’s maintenance arm employs 28 staff providing heating, ventilation and air conditioning maintenance services to hotels and commercial buildings across the country.

Surrey-based air conditioning firm Energy Technique bought the SIAS name, goodwill, certain maintenance contracts and associated fixed assets for an undisclosed sum. The business turned over £3.5m in the year to March.

Joint administrator Adrian Berry, of the accountancy firm Deloitte, said: “We are pleased that a sale of the maintenance part of the business was completed so quickly, thereby preserving part of SIAS’s workforce and ensuring the continued service to the company’s loyal customers.”
