Iconic Wirral landmark comes to market, with £5m guide price

An iconic Wirral commercial site has come to market, with a guide price starting at £5m.
Smith and Sons and Worthington Owen are marketing the Cheshire Lines and Shorelines site and buildings, marking one of the largest and most significant commercial property development opportunities in Merseyside today.
The iconic red brick former rail storage sheds, built in 1884, sit at the heart of Wirral’s business district.
The combined floor area of Cheshire Lines and Shorelines spans some 141,591 sq ft with 135 car parking spaces, while the site in total extends to more than one acre.
The historic nature of the site, its central waterfront location amongst the epic Wirral Water development, and the sheer size and scale, present a unique and exciting opportunity, say the agents.
Jason Wadeson, partner at Smith and Sons, said: “We’re incredibly pleased to bring this site to market – the scope and potential is immense for the relocation of a business or public sector organisation to create an impressive HQ, or for an investor who is able to optimise the far reaching benefits of the site itself.”
At present, Shorelines remains fully occupied, with several tenants in situ at Cheshire Lines providing an immediate income.
Andrew Owen, of Worthington Owen, said: “Rarely do buildings such as this come to market and the opportunities are endless.
“The buildings and site are offered at a very attractive price, and there really isn’t anything comparable available today in either Wirral or Liverpool.”
Cheshire Lines and Shorelines enjoy a rich and varied history, having been built to store goods by the transport authority who owned the site until 1961.
It was later redeveloped as a call centre by Mersey Development Corporation and occupied by Littlewoods Pools, followed by Park Foods.
During the past two decades, Cheshire Lines has been home to Wirral Borough Council, while Shorelines has been occupied by MD Insurance.
