Shortlist for E&Y’s Entrepreneur of the Year unveiled
BIG Four accountancy firm Ernst & Young has revealed the regional shortlist for its 2011 Entrepreneur of the Year awards.
The firm has shortlisted 16 people who will compete at a regional awards event in June, with the winners then being put forwards for the UK finals.
Among those listed on this year’s shortlist are Klarius Group chairman Tony Wilson, Fircroft Engineering Services’ CEO Jonathan Johnson, DWF managing partner Andrew Leaitherland and Parcel2go.com founder Fil Adams-Mercer.
Steve Oliver, founder of Macclesfield based Music Magpie, who recently sold a £10m stake in the buisness to private equity house LDC, is also on the shortlist.
Elaine O’Donnell, partner at Ernst & Young, said: “Whilst there are many who fear tomorrow, there are others who will build it – our entrepreneurs.
“Their ability to overcome fear and to spot opportunity in adversity is a quality which inspires us all towards a better tomorrow for our businesses and our country.”
Nationally, 132 businesses have been shortlisted for the UK Entrepreneur of the Year awards. The full list of 16 shortlisted for the North West appears below.
