Appointments: DWF boosts corporate team; Kuits grows

LAW firm DWF has boosted its corporate and commercial team after luring two partners from Addleshaw Goddard.

John Toon joins as head of the firm’s national commercial tax practice and will be dividing his time between DWF’s offices, while Nancy Kelsall joins as corporate finance partner in Manchester.

Mr Toon spent over nine years as a partner with Addleshaws, where he divided his time between Leeds, Manchester and London.

Formerly the head of ddleshaw’s Leeds-based tax team, he is recognised as a leading expert in dealing with the tax aspects of commercial property deals.

Nancy Kelsall, who was a corporate finance partner at Addleshaws, has advised on all areas of corporate finance during her 14 years as a lawyer, and specialises in working with public listed companies and in property sector deals.

Head of corporate Stephen Houston,  said: “The arrival of John and Nancy brings the number of new partners appointed to the team so far this year to seven.

“We are continuing to build the department with the addition of high-calibre candidates with specialist experience and skills. Our aim is to make DWF one of the leading corporate and commercial teams in the North.”

MANCHESTER  law firm, Kuits Solicitors has appointed two new members of staff.

Employment solicitor Jennifer Platt has joined Kuits having qualified with Lovells, and worked for McDermott Will and Emery.   Jennifer has recently been working at the Equality and Human Rights Commission.  She recently led an inquiry into race discrimination in the construction industry.

In addition, Liam Bottomley has joined the firm’s marketing team.  Liam previously worked for ACHAH, a legal services marketing consultancy.
