Denizen wins £6.7m Hotel Indigo job

DENIZEN Contracts has won a £6.7m contract to transform Eagle Star House at Fenkle Street, Newcastle, into a four-star boutique Hotel Indigo and Marco Pierre White restaurant.
Standish-based Denizen, which is owned by property entrepreneur Paul Bolton, will complete the work for another business in which Bolton has a significant stake, Liverpool-based Sanguine Hospitality.
The 148-bed development will be only the sixth Hotel Indigo in the UK and will be complete in Spring 2012. Hotel Indigo is a brand owned by Intercontinental Hotels Group – the multinational business behind the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Express brands.
Barry Donoghue, commercial director at Denizen Contracts, said: “This is a good fit for the skillsets we offer. We have extensive experience of working in busy urban locations on projects like this.
“With this scheme, we will have delivered three of the six Hotel Indigos in the UK, which puts us in good stead for delivering future developments as the IHG boutique concept continues to be rolled out.”
