MediaCity:UK wins North West construction award

LEND Lease’s construction of MediaCity:UK at Salford Quays won Project of the Year at the Centre for Construction Innovation’s (CCI) North West Construction awards last night.
Willmott Dixon claimed the Contractor of the Year prize, Jackson Jackson & Sons won SME of the Year and Manchester City Council was named as best client at the ceremony, which took place at Chester Racecourse last night.
The Workington River Crossing project also picked up a special judges’ award. In total, CCI presented 17 awards (listed below) which were whittled down from more than 100 nominations.
Roy Stewart, chief executive at CCI, said: “I would like to thank all those who came out to show their support. To have received such a large number of entries is testament to the resilience and forward thinking mentality of the North West’s construction sector.
“The submissions raise the bar each year and I would like to praise both the winners and finalists in making the region a pioneer for sustainability in construction.”
