Beverston Engineering secures £200,000 grant
A Merseyside engineering business is planning to expand and take on more staff after securing a £200,000 grant from the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA).
Beverston Engineering, which makes components for the aerospace and pharmecutical sectors, aims to use the cash to double turnover to £3.6m in five years.
It has won the award under the NWDA’s Grant for Business Investment (GBI) scheme which seeks to increase company productivity. Beverston said it intends to create 14 new jobs and invest £1.2m in new machinery.
Managing director Rod Wah said: “After several years of continuous improvement activities to make the company more attractive to customers several opportunities presented themselves which would require expansion of the company’s facilities. The support of the NWDA will enable this growth to take place.”
The St Helens-based business employs 31 staff and is considering a move to new premises three times as big as its current base.
Beverston has also been selected for the NWDA high growth programme which helps small and medium-sized businesses expand by at least 20% a year.
Mark Hughes, executive director of economic development at the NWDA, said: “This investment will safeguard and create a number of new jobs, as well as help the company achieve its ambitious growth programme.”
