CHESHIRE-based IT firm Xicon has signed a ground-breaking partnership with Liverpool University spin-out AIMES Grid Services to create a data storage and recovery hub for the region’s businesses.

The new facility, based at the former Marconi building in Liverpool, will use cloud-based technology to provide businesses with an affordable way to protect against a damaging IT disaster or breach of confidentiality, the companies said.

Simon Heyes, managing director of Xicon, which is based in Warrington, said: “The ability for any firm to operate normally in adverse conditions is vitally important. Imagine if you were suddenly cut off from critical business information – unable to access any of your client records or carry out billing?

“Business continuity and disaster recovery should be a priority for every firm – although it often isn’t, until it’s too late. And a vital part of this is protecting your information and data from IT failure.”

Xicon is holding a free seminar at The Malmaison Hotel in Manchester on December 4, for businesses that want to learn more about the cloud-based virtual service. To register visit www.xicon.com. AIMES is also organising a similar free event at The Racquet Club in Liverpool on Thursday, December 3. For more information, visit www.aimesgridservices.com
