Top NW chefs nominated for industry award

THREE top North West chefs have been nominated in the Hi-Life Dining Awards Best Chef category.
Enzo Mauro of Stock Restaurant, Harry Yeung of the Yang Sing, both in Manchester, and Ian Piper of Pipers in Garstang, are up against chefs from across the UK and Ireland for the award.
Cantonese restaurant the Yang Sing is also nominated in the Best Overall Restaurant category, along with fellow North West restaurant Thyme@ Sirloin, in Preston.
Ithaca, Sam’s Chop House, San Rocco, Hale Kitchen and Sweet Mandarin are all hoping to take home the silverware for Best Manchester Restaurant.
Meanwhile, five restaurants from across the region will be fighting it out for the Best North West Restaurant category, including Walled Garden in Barton, Ringo Bells in Chester, MJ’s in Darwen, Nigel Smiths in Preston and Moss Nook in Manchester.
Other categories with North West representation are Best Platinum Collection Restaurant – Harvey Nichols in Manchester, Storrs Hall in Windermere, and Red Cat in Chorley; Best Newcomer – Kitchen @ The Circle, Manchester, Chaophraya in Liverpool, Brasserie @ Formby Hall, and Hipping Hall in Carnforth; and Best Atmosphere – The Living Room in Manchester, Alma de Cuba in Liverpool, Revolution on Deansgate Locks in Manchester, Residence in Nantwich, and La Cubanita in Liverpool.
The Hi-Life Dining Awards are voted for by members of Hi-Life Diners Club. The awards, known as the HiLDAs, will be held at Manchester’s Hilton Hotel on January 29 and anchored by news presenter Gordon Burns.
Blackpool-headquartered Hi-Life is the UK’s largest dining club, with more than 100,000 members.
