Coffee shop brews up fourth Liverpool site

Italian coffee shop Gran Caffè is set to open a fourth Liverpool site in Liverpool city centre.

This mark’s the groups third site in under 12 months with Gran Caffè Lark Lane opening in June 2024 and Gran Caffè Duke Street opening in December 2023.

Owned by Italian brothers Paolo and Donato Cillo, Gran Caffè first opened in Williamson Square as part of the popular Italian Quarter over 10 years ago.

The new venue on Jesse Hartley Way, Park Central, marks the third Gran Caffè within Liverpool city centre, opening in January 2025.

The Cillo family are passionate about sharing an authentic Italian experience with their guests.

Their brother freshly bakes their sourdough and pinsa focaccia, and Donato’s wife, Antonietta, creates delicate cakes and traditional gelato each day.

All ingredients for Gran Caffè’s dishes are provided by their sister’s A Tavola da Maria Delicatessen and their coffee is ground from beans from their family’s roastery, Torrefazione Lucana, in Potenza.

Donato Cillo, co-owner of Gran Caffè, said: “Myself and Paolo are delighted to open our fourth Gran Caffè in the beautiful city of Liverpool that we’ve called home for two decades. Opening Gran Caffè was a chance for us to share our Italian heritage and culture with the people of Liverpool, bringing an authentic Italian experience and freshly made, delicious dishes, as well as our popular bakery and gelato. We’re very excited to open our doors in the New Year.”

Paolo Cillo, co-owner of Gran Caffè, added: “The last 12 months have been transformational for Gran Caffè. After having our flagship site in Williamson Square for over a decade, it was the right time for us to expand into other areas of the city centre and beyond in South Liverpool, and we can’t wait to introduce Gran Caffè to Park Central in early 2025.”
