Revenues up by 9% at Irwin Mitchell

LAW firm Irwin Mitchell has announced a 9% increase in turnover to £171m, which it said was due to a strong growth in both its corporate and personal injury business.

It also made a profit of £30.2m, and its profit per equity partner was £511,000 – 5.4% lower than last year’s figure of £540,000.

The firm, which opened its Manchester office in 2007, now employs 180 people in the city and more than 2,000 nationally. The number of partners and directors increased from 115 to 136.

Regional managing partner Grahame Codd said the breadth of the firm’s service has been important in providing a platform for growth.

He said: “Despite a challenging economic backdrop, Irwin Mitchell continues to make huge strides forward in Manchester, particularly in terms of building a strong business team capable of winning work from some of the largest companies across the North West and nationally.

“Partners in our Manchester office also head up a number of our national teams and these divisions have been tremendously successful in attracting some very high profile clients on the back of our innovative and client-driven approach.”

The firm’s client base includes InBev UK, Heineken and E-On, and its commercial litigation team was also recently appointed to the panel of Bank of America.
