Building firm which bought struggling rival now goes into administration

A Warrington building company which bought the assets of a rival out of administration saving 30 jobs more than year ago has itself called in administrators.

Warrington-based Mason Lord has appointed Darren Terence Brookes and Molly Monks of Milner Boardman and Partners in Hale, Greater Manchester.

Milner Boardman said no statement would be made about the state of the company.

In March last year, Mason bought the assets of St Helens-based Paragon Construction Group, which had carried out projects for organisations like the NHS, the Ministry of Defence and Sport England, in a pre-pack deal.

Of 40 staff at Paragon, 10 were made redundant while 30 were retained by the new company.

The only current Mason director listed at Companies House is John George Mason, aged 56.
