Beyond Corporate Law, part of the Beyond Professional Services Group, has recruited three new members of staff, with a director, an assistant solicitor and a paralegal all joining the Manchester-based law firm this month.

Andy Herricks, who joins as director, was a founding partner of Garricks, a niche commercial firm based in Blackburn.

He brings with him more than 20 years’ high-level experience in advising SME and owner-managed clients across the North West on a wide range of corporate, commercial and intellectual property matters.

Andy acts mainly for entrepreneurs and owner-managers, handling corporate transactions from shares sales, acquisitions and MBOs through to advising on complex shareholders’ agreements, re-organisations, share buy-backs and de-mergers.

In addition, he offers particular experience in the manufacturing and technology sectors.

“Beyond Corporate Law has emerged, in a very short space of time, as a dynamic and disruptive firm with a very exciting range of entrepreneurial clients,” he said.

“I am extremely pleased to be part of such a vibrant and positive team.”

Alexander Redford joins as assistant solicitor. He has held roles with various law firms including Slater and Gordon Lawyers, and latterly Hargreaves Mounteney, where he was a trainee in the commercial department, working on shareholder agreements, contracts, terms and conditions and other matters within the scope of business-to-business dealings.

The final member of the trio is Matthew Fearn, who joins the firm in the role of paralegal. He comes from JMW Solicitors and will work on corporate transactions, supporting the senior team.

Jim Truscott, partner, said: “These are exciting times for Beyond Corporate as we develop further our highly-regarded corporate and commercial offering.

“We have created a structure which offers meaningful career paths for both non-qualified and qualified lawyers, as well as our support team.

“We have made no secret of our determination to disrupt the legal market, and a key element of that strategy is to employ progressive, assured people who believe in our business model and culture.”

He added: “Andy, Matthew and Alex bring with them a wealth of talent and I am confident they will make a significant contribution to Beyond Corporate Law as we continue our drive to deliver a genuinely modern service that goes above and beyond that which is expected in the legal sector.”

Artorius, the Manchester-based wealth management group, has signalled its Midlands expansion with a key new appointment, hiring Steve Brandreth to help support its continued rapid growth.

Steve, an established banker, has been appointed as senior client partner, after joining the firm from Coutts with the remit of establishing a Midlands office.

Steve’s previous role was as executive director of Coutts & Co, where he spent 16 years advising a wide range of clients and families.

He said: “Joining Artorius is an incredibly positive step for me and my clients.

“Increasingly, the focus for them is on receiving absolutely the highest quality advice from an impartial and unconflicted source.

“This is becoming almost impossible to deliver if you have access to the services of just one bank. Whether it be investments, liquidity management, borrowing facilities or any number of services, my clients want me as their advisor to be able to access a wide range of choices, not just those of one provider.”

He added: “Speaking to the team at Artorius, I quickly realised that the company’s proposition wouldn’t compromise the service that I want to provide, allowing me to very happily shift my chair from being opposite my clients to being beside them, which provides me with the ability to consult and provide advice without compromise.

“Throughout my career I have been trusted by generations of families I have known for years, which hopefully demonstrates that they have valued my input.”

Artorius was established in 2015 to provide a range of investment services to high and ultra-high net wealth individuals and families.

The firm said its model relies on building a bespoke wealth plans for clients based around their specific needs and requirements. Artorius specialises in succession planning and complex wealth management cases that are increasingly underserved in a marketplace that is commoditising clients, while cutting back on time and service.

Artorius also provides wealth advice, family governance, portfolio management, multi-jurisdictional advice, credit structuring and advice on real estate and classic cars. It has also been ranked in the top 10 of firms growing clients and assets under management by wealth management benchmark firm PAM.

Along with client manager Paul Hutchinson, Steve will be focused on establishing a Midlands presence providing unbiased, bespoke advice to clients and families, with access to leading expertise and technology.

The new location will also provide clients who are based in the Midlands access to private banks which would not normally be available through the IFA route.

Ian Marsh, chief executive at Artorius, said: “Steve joining Artorius is a huge asset to us.

“We are a growing firm that is committed to understanding our clients in the regions and helping them achieve their objectives with the wealth they have generated or inherited.

“Steve’s experience and client-focus fits well with our ethos and him joining Artorius will enhance our business considerably.”

Artorius is a Manchester based wealth manager and family office, with offices in London and Zurich alongside the soon to be established Midlands office.
