Blackburn Rovers loses finance director

BLACKBURN Rovers’ finance director has become the latest in a high-profile string of departures from the football club.

Martin Goodman, who serves as finance director and Company Secretary, resigned as a director from the club last week, according to newly-filed documents at Companies House.

He becomes the latest director to leave the board since the takeover of the club by Indian food firm Venky’s last year. Former chairman John Williams and managing director Tom Finn both resigned from the board earlier this year.

They were followed in June by non-executive director Richard Mathewman, who was the son-in-law of former chairman and owner Jack Walker. The club’s new owners also replaced its auditors

Goodman’s departure means the only director remaining from the Walker-era board is ex-chairman Robert Coar.

A spokesman for the club confirmed Mr Goodman’s departure but declined to go into further details.

“There may be someone else coming in his place,” the spokesman said.
