Acquisition sees motor group expand its Cumbria customer base

A Cumbria-based motor dealership has added to its growing portfolio following the acquisition of a Volvo site, for an undisclosed sum.
Lloyd Motor Group has purchased the Volvo Cars business, in Levens, near Kendal.
The site will be renamed Lloyd South Lakes – Volvo Cars, and will serve customers across the south Cumbria and north Lancashire regions.
Completion of the deal from P.V. Dobson was recently confirmed, following closely after Lloyd Motor Group acquired its Lloyd Kia South Lakes site in Morecambe.
The medium term plan is to house both Volvo Cars and Kia at the current site in Levens.
This acquisition sees Lloyd Motor Group further expanding across the south of Cumbria, strengthening its presence in the area alongside its Lloyd BMW South Lakes and Lloyd MINI South Lakes retailers.
Lloyd South Lakes – Volvo Cars is the business’s second Volvo Cars retailer, having originally represented the manufacturer in Cockermouth since 1977 before later moving to Carlisle. Lloyd Motor Group has more than four decades of experience with Volvo Cars.
Chief executive, Bryan Lloyd, said: “We are pleased to be adding this site to the group and representing Volvo Cars in the south of Cumbria.
“This acquisition is an exciting opportunity, and will allow us to strengthen our offering across the region and further our relationship with the Volvo Cars brand. We look forward to delivering the unique Lloyd customer experience to both new and existing customers in the area.”
Lloyd Motor Group represents some of the world’s most prestigious automotive manufacturers. Starting its journey with BMW in Cockermouth in 1976, the family-owned company has now grown to employ more than 1,100 people across more than 30 locations throughout the north of England and south of Scotland.
