Cumbrian guest house re-opens for business

AN 18th Century Cumbrian guest house has reopened under new ownership after a six figure investment.
The Bush Nook Guest House, near Brampton on the border with Northumberland, was bought by husband and wife Malcolm and Jenny Redman in December last year.
The pair have since restored its six en-suite guest rooms to retain and enhance many of the original features of the property, as well as giving the guest dining and lounge areas a makeover.
The self catering Hay Barn Cottage, which can sleep up to four guests, has also been updated.
Julia Monks, director at independent mortgage broker U First Commercial, pulled together a team including Gerald Waterfield from The Co-operative Bank’s Lancashire Corporate Banking Centre, which provided a £350,000 funding package.
Mr Redman said: “Since we moved to England we had been looking for a suitable leisure opportunity, and Bush Nook was a perfect fit for us. It was suggested we contact Julia at U First Commercial, and she was able to recommend a first rate team that we have worked closely with to make the deal happen.
“Gerald at The Co-operative Bank immediately understood our requirements and they have been able to provide a loan with variable repayment levels throughout the year that will reflect our busy trading periods.”
The deal was supported by accountants McDade Roberts and Marsden Rawsthorn Solicitors, both based in Preston.
