LHC appoints seven to North West framework

SEVEN companies have been appointed to carry out whole house refurbishment work for a network of social housing firms across the North West.
Willmott Dixon, Wates, Keepmoat, Apollo Housing, Carillion, CLC Contractors and British Gas have all been appointed as framework contractors by LHC as part of a series of nationwide agreements worth a combined £500m.
LHC is one of the largest public sector purchasing consortia which has specifically been put together to buy building components and services from contractors on behalf of not-for-profit housing organisations.
Its four-year ‘Whole House Refurbishment’ framework is separated into two tranches. One of these deals with energy-saving opportunities and retrofits to make homes more energy-efficient, while the other focuses on more general refurbishment, such as electrical rewiring, power and lighting, heating systems and replacement windows, kitchens and bathrooms.
LHC director John Skivington said the agreement had been split into 14 regional lots to ensure that social landlords in all parts of the UK got “the best deal for their area”.
“Social landlords under pressure to achieve more efficiencies with fewer resources are very excited about what our WH1 framework arrangement has to offer,” he said.
“WH1 enables the full range of refurbishment and energy savings works delivered through a choice of competent contractors, supported by obligated funding providers.”
