Lindley Pate’s assets sold

THE assets of a century-old agricultural and equine supplies firm have been bought by a Yorkshire rival.

Guy Machinery of Skipton has acquired Lindley Pate, based at Gisburn, Lancashire, which was placed into a creditors’ voluntary liquidation in November after struggling with the downturn and increased competition.

The business, which turned over £2.8m, saw sales of commercial and domestic trailers fall by up to 40% last year.

The original business was established in 1912 and has been an Ifor Williams dealership for more than 30 years. The seven staff employed by Lindley Pate have all been dismissed.

Charles MacMillan, partner at Manchester-based accountancy firm Beever and Struthers, handled the sale. The value of the deal has not been disclosed.

Skipton-based Guy Machinery specialises in tractors, agricultural vehicles and machinery.
