Lancashire hotel gets £1.25m extension

THE owners Lancashire hotel Mytton Fold are investing £1.25m in extending and refurbishing the property.

The project, which is due for completion in May, will create 15 new bedrooms, increasing the hotel’s capacity 43 rooms. It will also see the bar and dining areas fully refurbished. Funding for the expansion was provided by NatWest.

The hotel was originally a working dairy farm before owners Frank & Lilian Hargreaves converted a former stable block into bed & breakfast accommodation in 1982, and it is one of the first examples of farm diversification in the UK.

It is now employs 80 part and full-time staff and is managed by the couple’s three children David, Carole and Barbara.

Barbara Bryan, director of Mytton Fold Hotel, said: “As the hotel and golf club has become more popular it has become more difficult to accommodate all of the people that want to come and stay, particularly those who visit on golfing breaks and for a wedding.

“It is an exciting time for everyone connected with the hotel and we are confident our guests will appreciate the new bedrooms once the project is finished.”

Mytton Fold won the Small Hotel of the Year category at the 2009 Lancashire & Blackpool Tourist Awards.
