Peel plans 350 homes for Walkden
PEEL has submitted a planning application to develop 350 homes on land at Burgess Farm in Walkden.
The outline application to Salford Council follows a recent public consultation and includes proposals for the creation of a nature park on the 18 hectare site.
A total of 13 hectares would be developed for housing and of the proposed 350 homes, around 70 will be affordable units.
Vehicular access to the development will be from Hilton Lane and there would be footpath links to Newearth Road and also to the open land to the west.
Louise Morrissey, director of land & planning at Peel, said: “This is an exciting and imaginative scheme which will provide both aspirational and affordable housing in line with the council’s objective of delivering a broad mix of dwellings within Salford.
“The Council has already identified Burgess Farm in its current core strategy document as a site that can help to deliver this objective and this application will help to fulfil the council’s aspirations to increase the supply of traditional family housing in Salford”.
