HR boss to set out BBC jobs vision at Salford Business Awards

KEN Lee, the head of HR for BBC North, has been revealed as the keynote speaker at the Salford Business Awards, being held this Thursday.
He will outline the BBC’s vision for jobs at MediaCity in Salford at the ceremony, which will be hosted by journalist and GMTV correspondent Elaine Wilcox at the Lowry Hotel.
Mr Lee will have responsibility for the HR needs of more than 2,000 people who will be working in the BBC’s three waterside buildings from around the summer of next year.
Mr Lee said he joined the BBC in 2008 because he wanted to play a part in the regeneration of his native North West. Previously he worked for private sector companies, including Cadbury Schweppes in the Midlands and BAE Systems in the North where he was a manager for the Eurofighter Typhoon project.
Paul Walker, strategic director for sustainable regeneration for Salford City Council, said: “The question most asked by businesses and residents of Salford is how can they make the most of the employment opportunities offered by MediaCity? Ken will be outlining the BBC’s approach to the recruitment process and we are all very much looking forward to hearing what he has to say.”
