Blackpool builders’ merchants closes

A BUILDERS’ merchant which employed 28 people at Poulton-le-Fylde has closed its doors.
The company, Qualtrade, had been owned by Karl Langhorne, had suffered from the downturn and had come under significant pressure from Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC), which eventually issued a winding-up petition against the firm.
It subseuqntly sought advice from an insolvency firm, and Jason Greenhalgh and Paul Stanley from the Manchester office of Begbies Traynor were appointed on November 2.
The pair have now closed the business and are currently in the process of reviewing its assets and its debtor book with a view to recovering as much for the firm’s creditors as possible.
Mr Greenhalgh said: “It is unfortunate that the company was unable to be rescued, but the joint administrators will now try to achieve the best result we can.”
