Promethean creates 100 jobs with new office

EDUCATION technology company Promethean intends to open an office in Maidenhead, in Berkshire, creating 100 jobs.

The fast-growing Blackburn-based firm makes interactive whiteboards for classrooms as well as the software and hand-held devices needed to operate them.

The company – which recently floated on the Stock Market – has taken a lease on a 8,000 square foot building which will open in August.

It is now looking to recruit 100 new employees who will focus on sales and marketing as well as research and development.

Reggy Degen, head of group human capital, said: “This recruitment drive will increase our workforce significantly over the next three years and reflects the needs of our rapidly expanding global business.

“The new Maidenhead office will provide the flexibility and geographical convenience that a global business requires and will benefit from the pool of talent that is located in the region, complementing our existing operations in the North West.

“Recruitment is already under way and we are delighted with the response received so far.”

The new office has also been welcomed by Home Secretary Theresa May, MP for Maidenhead, who said: “I strongly welcome new investment in the Maidenhead area, and these new jobs will provide a timely boost.

“Maidenhead is a great place to work and it is important that we continue attracting successful businesses to the town. This is another vote of confidence to our local business community.”

Promethean employs over 900 people worldwide in 15 different countries.

The company floated on the London Stock Exchange in March 2010.
