Eastern Airlines bolsters North West fleet

EASTERN Airways will take delivery of a new jet today which will be based at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

The airline will take delivery of a 37-seat Embraer 135 jet aircraft after signing an agreement with GE Capital Aviation Services.

It took delivery of an identical jet last month as it looks to increase its services supporting blue-chip companies and corporations from the North West.

In addition, Eastern Airways operates a 29-seater British Aerospace Jetstream 41 and a 50-seater Saab 2000 aircraft on its domestic network, as well as private charter flights.

Chris Holliday, Eastern Airways’ chief operating officer, said: “The Embraer jet complements our fleet and gives us tremendous flexibility as we can offer 29, 37 and 50 seat aircraft to the private charter market.  We can also adjust capacity to meet demand on scheduled services as and when required.

“We have operated Embraers in the past and the time is now right to reintroduce the fast 37-seater to fill a gap primarily in the charter market serving the UK and central and eastern Europe.”

The airline started domestic scheduled services to Aberdeen and Southampton from Liverpool last July last year and offers business travellers day return journeys.
