Pledge on 200 call centre jobs

THE Indian-owned company which took over one of Warrington’s biggest contact centres last week plans to recruit 200 staff.
HEROtsc took control of the former Vodafone in-house operation at Birchwood Park on July 1 as part of a six-year deal between the two companies agreed in May.
The firm has pledged to retain the Vodafone staff who were transferred as part of the deal and recruit more people.
Speaking at an official launch chief executive David Turner said: “In difficult times for the economy and the contact centre sector, the longevity of this partnership brings stability to Birchwood Park and the other HEROtsc sites which handle Vodafone business.”
He added: “Looking to the future, we would hope to use our contacts within the industry and sector experience to bring more work – and therefore more jobs – to our new Warrington site.”
From an initial operation in Scotland HEROtsc has grown to become one of the UK’s largest contact centre companies with 10 UK sites, and one in India.
HEROtsc is part of the Indian conglomerate, Hero Group, but has a management team based in the UK.
Steven Broomhead, chief executive of the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) said: “This investment is particularly welcome news during the difficult economic conditions and is a boost to the local and regional economy.”
