MOSI joins National Science Museum

MANCHESTER’S respected Museum of Science & Industry has been merged with the National Museum of Science & Industry (NMSI).
MOSI’s assets have been transferred to NMSI, creating a museum group made up of MOSI, the Science Museum in London and Wroughton, near Swindon; the National Railway Museum in York and Shildon; and the National Media Museum in Bradford.
The merger creates one of the world’s most important museum groups, with more than 5m visitors annually.
Stephen Claus, a partner at law firm Brabners Chaffe Street, led the team advising MOSI on the deal.
Mr Claus said: “We are delighted to have played a part in advising on the merger which enables MOSI to go from strength to strength.”
MOSI underwent a £9m redevelopment in 2011 and was named Large Visitor Attraction of the Year Award in the local tourism awards.
