Moss leads pre-merger move from McGrigors

THE head of law firm McGrigors’ Manchester office has led a defection of his eight-strong consttruction law team to Eversheds.

Mr Moss, who was only appointed as head of McGrigors’ Manchester office in June last year, is a construction law specialist who had originally brought a 10-strong team to McGrigors from Hammonds in 2010.

However, McGrigors subsequently announced a merger with Pinsents which is due to complete on May 1. It is understood that client conflicts between McGrigors and Pinsent has sparked the move.

A spokesman for McGrigors said: “As a result of a conflict arising from the recently announced merger between McGrigors and Pinsent Masons, David Moss, Paul Giles and their teams will be leaving McGrigors to join Eversheds.

“They have made a significant contribution since their arrival in August 2010 and we wish them well in their future careers.”

The team will be joined at Eversheds by Nigel Proctor – a construction and engineering expert who has joined from Addleshaw Goddard. The hires take the number of partners within Eversheds’ Manchester construction team to four.

Simon Oats, partner and head of construction at Eversheds, said the appointments “help to meet the growing demand for specialism in construction and engineering that we are currently experiencing”.

Mr Moss said: “I am confident that our team will be a good fit within the construction practice at Eversheds. Under Simon’s leadership, the practice has reputation for a pragmatic approach to complex disputes in the construction sector.

“It is this commitment to delivering quality services that I think my team will thrive in and our clients will benefit from.”
