Premier Inn to spend £1m on Salford Quays upgrade

PREMIER Inn is to embark on a £1.1m extension of its hotel at Salford Quays.
The company is planning to add a four storey-high extension to the hotel, which will contain an extra 28 bedrooms. This would bring the total number of rooms at the hotel up to 80.
Graham Headley, project and programme manager for Premier Inn’s parent firm, Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, said: “Salford Media City has seen unprecedented levels of investment the past few years and is a major destination for leisure and business.
“Our hotel is in the heart of the action, within five minutes walk of the BBC campus, Old Trafford and Trafford Centre, and is proving very popular with our customers as a result.”
The most recent occupancy figures for hotel rooms in Manchester by PKF Hotel Consultancy Services stated that occupancy levels averaged at 74.6% for April, which is a 1.3% increase on 2011. Overall room yields rose by 0.8% to £53.79.
