McCrum hails record year for Darbys

DARBYS, the law firm which has grown its North West presence from one lawyer to 28 in just 12 months, has reported its best-ever annual revenue of £9m.

The firm, which has its roots in Oxford, and is led by former Pannone partner Simon McCrum, who as managing partner has spearheaded the  30% increase in turnover and the growth in this region.

Mr McCrum, who lives in Bowdon and works from the firm’s office in Hale two days a week, said: “The results from last year are amazing, I have never worked so hard in all my career though.

“Our recipe for success is very simple. If you have the right people providing a superb service then growth will come. If you do this then very soon matter one for a client will become matter 16.

“In Manchester, our growth has been about good people coming to us – I thing we have only paid about two fees to recruiters. If we get the right people we will continue to grow.

“We have a model though where we expect our people to be profitable from month one, so it’s all about quality.”

He revealed he is already looking for extra space in Hale, as the office at Richmond House on Heath Road , is already nearly full.

“We are committed to being in Hale, our people love it and clients love it, we have no interest in the city centre at all.”

Darbys now offers: employment; matrimonial; private client; residential conveyancing; commerical litigation; construction; commerical property and corporate from its Hale office.
