Appointments: Rothbury’s new role at Barclays; Napthens; Irwin Mitchell & more

BARCLAYS has appointed relationship director Miles Rothbury to a new position supporting subsidiaries of multi-national corporates across the North West.
Michael Hartig, director of corporate banking in Manchester, said: “We are seeking to bring an increasing level of consistency in how we join up and run our MNC business internationally while strengthening our partnerships with regional business communities throughout the UK.
“The appointment of Miles in this role is a great step forward, as our MNC capability is increasing across the globe on a weekly basis, and Miles will have all the understanding of our global footprint and offering.”
Each region in the UK now has a locally-based relationship director at Barclays working closely with the bank’s central UK multi-national corporates (MNC) team to establish and strengthen relationships with these businesses.
Mr Rothbury will continue to be based at the banks’ North West HQ at 3 Hardman Street, Manchester.

LITIGATOR David Bailey has joined Lancashire-based Napthens Solicitors as commercial property disputes partner.
Mr Bailey of Grimsargh near Preston, joins from Taylors Solicitors
and has acted for a number of property investment and holding companies with UK-wide portfolios, dealing exclusively with their property disputes. He also represents corporate tenants in disputes with their landlords.
Iain Wharton, head of litigation at Napthens, said: “David is a highly experienced litigator and Napthens’ reputation acting for the property sector means his advice will bring real benefit for our clients.”

THE Manchester office of law firm, Irwin Mitchell, has appointed banking and finance associate, Hayley Johnson.
Joining from Nabarro Ms Johnson has 10 years of finance and property legal experience.
Dean Gormley, partner and head of the firm’s Northern banking and finance team, said: “Irwin Mitchell is committed to investing in its business legal services team and Hayley’s appointment is another example of our intent to build a leading banking and finance team across the north of England.”

CONSTRUCTION lawyer Barry Goodall has been appointed as a partner by by law firm Brabners Chaffe Street.
He has joined from DAC Beachcroft in Manchester where he was a partner.
At Brabners Chaffe Street Barry will cover both the Liverpool and Manchester offices, working with clients on dispute resolution and providing non-contentious contract advice.
As well as being a lawyer, he is also qualified as a chartered quantity surveyor and has presented numerous seminars on all aspects of construction law.
