Property News: HCA markets Liverpool tower; Cirrus; City West and more

THE Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) is selling a 14-storey tower block near Sefton Park in Liverpool.

The Merebank Tower block has 58 vacant flats which overlook the park and the city centre.

Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) has been appointed to market the property. JLL director Chris Prescott said: “Merebank represents an attractive development opportunity in one of Liverpool’s most desirable residential areas. We’ve already received significant interest and anticipate achieving a good value for the asset.

“The scheme will bring a vacant property back to the open market at a time when we’re seeing increased activity from residential buyers and investors.”

The deadline for tenders is April 5.

HOUSING association City West has won planning approval for a revamp of the College Croft sheltered high rise block in Eccles.

Work will begin in the coming weeks on the 12-storey block on Regent Street.

Improvements will include energy efficient over-cladding, glazed enclosures to the balconies, full internal refurbishment, a new entrance and a roof terrace for residents to enjoy throughout the year.

The EcoPod heating system, developed by Warrington-based Belfry, will also be installed which should save residents up to 60% on their energy bills.

Nigel Sedman, assistant director of investment and regeneration at City West, said: “We’re looking forward to starting work on College Croft now planning has been granted. The transformation of high rise living here and at Ladywell Green is part of the wider regeneration of Eccles town centre which includes the development of our new head office, with work set to start on this next month.”

GALLIFORD Try has secured planning approval to deliver 37 affordable homes in Ellesmere Port and Liverpool.

Permission has been granted for two and three-bed houses on a former sea cadet premises on John Street close to Ellesmere Port town centre. 

The Company has also secured permission to develop 20 apartments at Halewood Road in Gatacre, Liverpool, in partnership with Plus Dane Housing Group. 

Both schemes are scheduled to begin on site at the end of March and will be constructed by Galliford Try Partnerships, the company’s affordable housing division.

BRANDING specialist Cirrus has taken 4,000 sq ft at Sandfield House, Wilmslow.

The move follows its merger with marketing communications firm The Raft last year.

The company, which employs 45 people, works with clients including Marks & Spencer, Asda and Pentland Brands.

Chief executive Simon Hayward said: “We have been looking for the ideal office space to relocate to since merging with The Raft last year.

“More than ever, clients are looking to build their brands from the inside out. Cirrus is uniquely placed to deliver this. Our merger with The Raft really enhanced our brand engagement capability.”

SAS Daniels LLP, which has offices in Stockport, Macclesfield, Chester and Congleton, advised Cirrus on the new office lease.
