In Brief: John Sutch invests, award for Riverview

LIVERPOOL crane operator, John Sutch, has spent £1.6m in two new cranes, bringing total investment to £4m in the last six months.

The family owned business secured funding from Allied Irish Bank for a 200-tonne crane and a 50-tonne crane which it said will help it to fulfil its contracts across the city and North West.

Managing director John Sutch said: “During the past two or three years, we’ve seen a steady increase in enquiries from a more diverse client base. We now form part of almost all the major contractor supply chains but are also working for end users direct including Peel.

“This level of demand is excellent and we realise if we are to take the business to this next level we must invest in our fleet, our people and our wider operation to ensure we can meet demand and sustain our excellent service and delivery levels.

“It’s fantastic to take delivery of our latest two cranes and rewarding to see the confidence that our bank Allied Irish has in us. We’re looking forward to the year ahead and expect to be making some more fantastic announcements in the coming months.”

RIVERVIEW Law, the Wirral-based fixed-priced legal services business, has won the 2013 Managing Partners’ Forum award for best emerging firm.

It overcame competition from firms such as Gunnercooke, Irwin Mitchell, Quindell and The Co-operative Legal Services to scoop the reward which recognises innovation.

The award follows earlier recognition from the Financial Times when it was selected as ‘Standout’ by the judging panel at the Innovative Lawyers Awards 2012 in the Legal Industry Pioneers category.

Chief executive Karl Chapman said: “It is immensely satisfying to receive another award in recognition of our work. However, we have always maintained that the real winners from the changes occurring in the legal market are customers. Our focus remains on ensuring that businesses of all sizes have access to cost-effective, fixed fee, legal advice.”
