‘Peel and Langtree’ vie for Carrington

THREE property groups have been shortlisted for the redevelopment of Shell’s 1,600-acre Carrington site in Greater Manchester.
That’s according to PropertyWeek.com which says St Modwen, Manchester-based Peel and Langtree in Newton-le-Willows have been chosen from around 20 bidders to buy what would be the largest brownfield redevelopment in the North Westt and one of the largest in the UK.
A preferred bidder is expected to be chosen by the end of August.
It said bids topped the figure initially sought for the site, which was more than £20m. The former chemical works is designated in Trafford Council’s core strategy for a mixed-use development with 1,560 new homes and 185 acres for economic development.
Jones Lang LaSalle is advising Shell on the sale of the site which is close to junction 8 of the M60. All parties declined to comment.
