Appointments: New family head for JMW; Watkins joins Brabners & more

LAW firm JMW Solicitors has appointed Patricia Cottrell as a partner and new head of family law.

She joins the Manchester firm from the Liverpool office of Halliwells where she headed up the family department. She was previously a partner at Cuff Roberts in Liverpool for more than 20 years before the merger with Halliwells in 2005.

She specialises in high value matrimonial finance cases for privately funded clients and often represents high profile individuals.

Her reputation as a leading individual in her field is summed up by legal directory Chambers and Partners, which described her in the 2010 edition as “the doyenne of divorce”.

Commenting on her appointment, Patricia Cottrell said: “I am delighted to join JMW as I feel this is a wonderful opportunity to join a dynamic and ambitious firm. BRABNERS Chaffe Street has further strengthened its property litigation expertise with the appointment of Rachel Watkin as a partner in Liverpool. 

A specialist property and chancery litigation lawyer with 13 years experience, Rachel joins from now disbanded law firm Halliwells where she launched and established a niche property litigation team in the firm’s Liverpool office.

BOLTON IT solutions provider, Imerja, has made six new appointments to support its expanding service range and sustain its growth.

Four of the new team members join as support engineers for Imerja’s Secure Operations Centre (ISOC), which provides support and managed services to customers throughout the UK.

The appointments also includes Fayzul Wadiwala, who joins as a business development manager.  Fayzul will work with the current business development team to ensure Imerja builds on its strong market position in 2011.

Law firm Shammah Nicholls has its newly-promoted partner Peter Crewe as head of the firm’s corporate recovery and insolvency arm.

Crewe, 30, has been with the Manchester-based firm since graduating from law school in 2003 and was promoted to partner in March.

The firm’s senior partner Mark Dennis said: “We’re extremely proud of our homegrown talent and delighted that Peter will now be heading up the corporate recovery and insolvency department. We’re confident that he’ll take this area of the business from strength-to-strength.”

Property agency DTZ has appointed Richard McAuley as Senior Surveyor to its Manchester-based corporate real estate management team. McAuley joins from  Lancashire-based Warburton Estates where he was an asset manager.

He specialises in disposal, acquisition and development advice and will be working in DTZ’s corporate real estate team at Manchester Airport providing estate management services for its non-operational estate.

The firm also announced that former employee Simon Lowe has rejoined its investment team following a spell at Manchester Airport’s corporate real estate management team.

Mike Mitchell, managing directorof DTZ”s regions team said: “We are delighted to have secured Richard’s appointment to our Manchester office. He has a wealth of experience in asset management and will be working with one of our biggest clients in the region.”
