G4S wins MediaCity security contract

PEEL Media has awarded a three year contract for MediaCityUK to security company G4S Secure Solutions (UK) after a competitive four way pitch.

Financial terms were not disclosed. G4S, which has been involved in the project since construction began at Salford Quays in 2007, will have around 60 staff contracted to work on the landmark development from 2011.

The 36-acre MediaCityUK site includes a new home for BBC North, a campus for the University of Salford, 378 apartments, a  218-bed hotel, an outdoor piazza twice the size of Trafalgar Square and the most modern new studio facilities in Europe.

Tony Chebrika, head of security for Peel Media, the developer, said: “MediaCityUK is an unprecedented development and the diversity of opportunities available to security personnel will be extremely rewarding.”
