McHale & Co launches Russia service

NORTH West law firm McHale & Co has broadened its international expertise with the appointment of a Russian speaking lawyer.
The Altrincham firm, which prides itself on its entrepreneurial approach, says the launch this year of the direct flight between Manchester and Moscow, has increased demand from Russian companies seeking legal representation on these shores.
McHale and Co which has already established a Polish department under the guidance of partner Marta Grzelak, has hired Maria Udalova-Surkova as an associate solicitor to oversee the development of a Russian client base.
Founder Andrew McHale told TheBusinessDesk.com: “We have identified the need for Russian-speaking legal services in the North West. There has always been a strong and trusting relationship between English and Russian trade bodies.
“The dynamic Russian economy and the opening of the new Moscow-Manchester flight has meant that there is now a demand for legal support for Russians within the property and business sectors.”
Ms Udalova-Surkova, who is from Moscow, has practised as a commercial solicitor in the North West for the past seven years.
She says: “Not only is there a surge in Russian business ventures in the UK, but there is a good number of well-established Russian communities, both in the North West and London, who are looking to invest and require a high quality service”, she says.
Mr McHale said the Russian service is a “very exciting opportunity” and is now looking to open a London office and establish associate links in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
