A DOZEN businesses from the region from sectors as varied as agricultural vehicles to football and legal, are set to visit China to explore markert opportunities there.
A limited number of places remain on the trade mission to Shanghai and Chongqing led by UK Trade and Investment, and takes place in early November.
The delegates from Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire and Cheshire will be attending China’s largest industry event, the China International Industry Fair (CIIF) being held in Shanghai from November 5 to 9th.
Companies including Amicus Solicitors, CBI Global Freight, Night & Day UK, Odlings Mcr Ltd, Shire Tractors, Somerford Equipment, K-A-T Ltd, Far East Consulting, International Football Connections, Language Brand Communication, Lanhai Career Management and Visun International will attend a pre-mission briefing session in Manchester today, ahead of departure on November 2.
The visit, organised by UKTI North West, will include in-market briefings in Shanghai and Chongqing, the services of an experienced UKTI trade mission manager, networking and promotional opportunities and help with identifying future business partners and arranging meetings via the Overseas Market Introduction Service (OMIS).
Philomena Chen, head of Asia Pacific business development for UKTI North West said: ““China is the great economic success story of the past 30 years. Growth has been sustained and the economy grew by almost 9% in 2012.
“However, while the opportunities are plentiful, it is a large and complex market and businesses need to keep up with developments. Attending a UKTI led mission is an ideal way to visit the market, whether selling, trading, investing or franchising, as businesses can take advantage of detailed market information and warmed leads from our team based in embassies and consulates throughout China.”
Shanghai is China’s largest city by population, around 20 million people – with global influence in a range of sectors from finance to fashion and from technology to transport, while Chongqing is a major city in the south west of the country which serves as the economic centre of the Yangtze basin.
A limited number of Market Visit Support grants are available for eligible North West companies on a first come first served basis.
There is still time to register before the deadline of Friday September 27 and interested companies are urged to email events@uktinorthwest.co.uk or to contact Miho Hatakeyama on 0161 875 2333 for more information.
