New Mind in merger with Norwegian firm

LIVERPOOL-based web designer New Mind, which specialises in services for the tourist industry, has merged with the Norwegian group TellUs IT.

In a statement the new company, New Mind|tellUs, said it will continue to specialise in software and content management systems for tourist bodies.

New Mind said it holds around 60% of the UK market and works with over 150 destinations across the UK including Liverpool, Brighton, Bath, Cambridge and Scotland. TellUs has a similar market share across Scandinavia. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

The new company is now redeveloping its technology platform based on features both companies currently use. It says this will offer better value for money to tourist bodies have seen budgets cut in the wake of the financial crisis.

Managing director of UK operations Richard Veal said: “The adoption of technology in the travel industry is rapid and complex, requiring significant and on-going investment. By coming together, New Mind|tellUs has both the technical resource and the deep knowledge of tourism necessary to meet the specific needs of destination management organisations.”

Michael Borge, managing director of Scandinavian operations said: “The next iteration of the platform will offer exciting new opportunities to our clients in the UK and Scandinavia accelerating the exchange of best-practice among destination managers and marketeers.”
