Pennington Choices buys asbestos specialist

SOCIAL housing consultancy Pennington Choices has expanded its range of services after acquiring Invicta Analytical Services for an undisclosed sum.

Runcorn-based Pennington Choices said that its acquisition of Invicta, which is based at Bromley in South East London, would allow it to add laboratory testing services and consultancy advice on handling asbestos to its product suite.

Pennington Choices’ managing director Mark Seaborn said: “As a full service provider of services to the social housing sector, it is vital that we bring a high quality specialism to any one brief. The purchase of Invicta allows us to acquire a highly experienced and qualified specialist asbestos team within the group, greatly adding to our current client offer.”

Invicta was set up in 1984 and currently employs around 21 staff. Its turnover for the year to March 31 was just short of £1m.

“Invicta’s experience and expertise in project management will enable us to give our clients complete confidence and peace of mind at all times by keeping them advised at all stages of operation, helping meet legal requirements,” said Seaborn.

Following the buy-out, Invicta’s current owner and managing director David Shah will leave the firm, and operational managers Paul Wright and Stephen Bridgeman will take charge of the business on a day-to-day business. A new regional director is also set to be appointed.

Pennington Choices was set up in 2000 and specialises in all aspects of financing, developing, managing and maintaining social housing. It’s turnover for the year to March 31 was almost £3.3m.
