Sugar hit for Real Good Food Co

REAL Good Food Co, the Liverpool-based manufacturer and supplier of sugar and other catering ingredients, has signed major supply agreements with Asda and Booker that will create 80 jobs.

Its Napier Brown subsidiary will be taking on the extra staff at its headquarters in Normanton, West Yorkshire.

The contracts, which will start later this month, include the supply of 60 different product lines including its Whitworths range. The new agreements are expected to double Whitworths sales.

Real Good is also nearing completion of Napier Brown’s Sugar Hub, a £3.5m development in new sugar handling facilities at Immingham on Humberside, which is due for completion by the end of the year.

Chairman Pieter Totté said: “I am delighted by the success of John Tanner and his team at Napier Brown in securing these important new contracts, which represents the culmination of 18 months’ hard work. We look forward to building our relationships with both Asda and Booker and believe that the Whitworths brand still has huge growth potential.”

The listed company also owns ingredients firms Garrett and Renshaw, jam and bakery ingredients specialist R&W Scott and patisserie maker Haydens Bakery.
