BCP Fluted Packaging sold for £16.8m
BLACKBURN packaging manufacturer BCP Fluted Packaging has been bought by a Finnish group for £16.8m.
BCP, which specialises in corrugated packaging for the food industry, has been acquired by the stock market-listed Huhtamaki Group.
It has been sold by chairman Brian Jones who held all the shares.
He said: “I am extremely pleased that BCP has joined the Huhtamaki Group. It has both the desire and the resources to grow the BCP business even further and will help to make the BCP name even bigger in the market.”
The business will be renamed Huhtamaki BCP and will become part of Huhtamaki’s foodservice business. The company has an 80-year history and employs 120 staff. In the year to June 2012 it made pre-tax profits of £981,100 on sales of £12.3m.
Law firm Gateley advised BCP on the sale, with a team led by corporate partner, Rebecca Grisewood and corporate solicitor, Lisa Woodberry.
