Liverpool to sell 12-acre Edge Lane plot

LIVERPOOL City Council is selling a 12-acre development plot off Edge Lane to the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA).

In council papers it said the land would help the Government agency deliver the regeneration of the former Littlewoods building and complement its landholdings at the neighbouring Liverpool Innovation Park and Wavertree Technology Park.

The council bought the land from Space North West, a joint venture between Ashtenne and the HCA, in 2012 with a plan to use it for the development of two secondary schools which are now going elsewhere.

The sale price was not disclosed but the council said the deal represented the “best consideration”.

The HCA sold the Littlewoods building to Manchester developer Capital & Centric last year which is now working on a £20m redevelopment of the art deco building.
