Green light for Holmes Chapel Sainsbury’s

ALDERLEY Edge investment firm Bluemantle has won planning permission for a 45,000 sq ft Sainsbury’s supermarket in Holmes Chapel.
The store on the former Fisons site on London Road, will also have 260 car parking spaces, a re-cycling centre and a petrol station.
It is expected to create up to 175 full and part time jobs.
Simon Isherwood of Bluemantle said: “We are delighted to have secured planning for this new store, which is the result of months of consultations with the local community and working closely with the council. This new foodstore will have a significantly beneficial impact on the local area as it will enable residents to do their weekly food shop in Holmes Chapel, preventing ‘leakage’ to neighbouring towns.
“In 2012, we secured planning for 230 new homes on the adjoining site which is currently being developed out by Bellway Homes and Bloor Homes. The development of a new foodstore will provide a much needed facility for Holmes Chapel’s growing population.”
Manchester-based HOW Planning advised on the application.
