Everton makes new application for houses at Bellefield

BELLWAY Homes and Everton Football Club have submitted plans to Liverpool City Council for 74 homes at the club’s old training ground in West Derby.
The ground at Bellefield has been unused since 2007 when the Premiership side started using new training facilities at Finch Farm, Halewood.
It attempted to develop the 8.9-acre site with David Wilson Homes three years ago but the proposals, which also included 74 homes, were refused by the city council.
The latest plans include the demolition of several buildings at the site, the construction of access roads and 74 houses.
Bellefield became Everton’s training ground in 1946. By 1966 it was considered so advanced that the Brazil squad used it as a training base during the 1966 World Cup.
