Appointments: DWF hires Chamberlain; Shoosmiths; EV & more

DWF has appointed Andrew Chamberlain as a partner and head of its 60-strong national employment team.

Mr Chamberlain joins from Addleshaw Goddard, where he was latterly running its client delivery offering including its transaction services team. Before taking that role he led the firm’s employment team for nine years.

LAW firm Shoosmiths has strengthened its intellectual property  and creative industries offering in Manchester with the hire of partner, Laura Harper and associate, Carol Isherwood.

Both women join from Ward Hadaway and Miss Harpe will lead he firm’s IP and creative industries team in Manchester.

The duo act for singers, writers, artists, performers, producers, labels, bands and their related companies. As well as established brands, their clients include some of the most successful digital starts-ups in the North West.

Laura Harper said: “Manchester has strong and vibrant creative and digital sectors. The city council’s aim to make Manchester one of the most digitally connected cities of the future makes this the most exciting place to be working in our field.”
 
Both will be based at the Sharp Project as well as at Shoosmiths’ Spinningfields headquarters.

COWGILL Holloway Business Recovery has boosted  its team with the appointment of insolvency specialist Ben Cowgill as a senior manager.
 
Mr Cowgill, son of JD Sports executive chairman and Cowgill Holloway senior partner Peter, has worked in the insolvency profession for the last  six years.

He joins Cowgill Holloway from Begbies Traynor where he spent more than three years in the North West. Prior to that worked for Deloitte and Grant Thornton.
 
Jason Elliott, partner and head of business recovery at the Bolton, Liverpool and Manchester-based firm said: “We are delighted that Ben has decided to return to his roots and we hope to have him on board for many years to come.”

ENTERPRISE Ventures, the private equity investor, made two  appointments to support its growth.

Former banker Peter Rooney joins the Rosebud Finance team as investment manager at the company’s Preston office.  Rosebud is a finance package which helps Lancashire firms expand their businesses and is managed by Enterprise Ventures on behalf of Lancashire County Council.

Meanwhile Katy Horrocks has joined as marketing manager. Katy has more than 10 years’ experience working in senior marketing roles, most recently as head of marketing for Bibby Consulting And Support, part of the Bibby Line Group until its sale to Citation last year.

FINANCIAL planning consultancy Pareto FP has announced several key people moves, including two promotions as it looks to broaden its range of services.

The Manchester company has promoted Stuart Carswell and Paul Stones as associate directors and also taken on a number of new advisers including John Foy, Andrew Chaplin, and mortgage specialist Chris Flanagan.

Managing director John Stevenson said: “While we already offer mortgages for clients, this includes outsourcing to banks and brokers. As part of our expansion, we’re seeking to bring this in-house.

“Pareto’s growth relies on introductions from accountants, lawyers and general insurance brokers. We now aim to expand this remit to include estate agents. To this end, we’ll be positioning specialist staff in their offices to be marketed as in-house advisers.”

LIVERPOOL law firm Cassell Moore has appointed Louise Berry as head of Wills, Trusts and Probate.

Miss Berry, who joins from MLP Solicitors in Altrincham, has more than a decade of experience in the market place,
