Business investment creates 1,000 Stockport jobs

STOCKPORT COUNCIL estimates more than 1,000 jobs have been created in the borough through business investment of £16.9m over the past year.
It said investment by Stockport firms and those moving into the area had created 1,050 new jobs and safeguarded a further 360.
New entrants included infrastructure specialists Balfour Beatty and home and personal care products company Jarden Consumer Solutions which both moved to offices at Cheadle Royal Business Park; and furniture retailer Wilkinson Furniture chose Lawnhurst Trading Estate as its new headquarters.
Firms already in the area included payroll and HR specialist ADP which relocated to larger premises at Southgate in Heald Green, UK Point of Sale which moved to Bredbury Industrial Estate and TEL Engineering which invested in additional premises in Hazel Grove.
Councillor Patrick McAuley, executive member for economic development and regeneration, said: “This is an exciting time for Stockport as we seek to Invest in Stockport’s future to develop a town that will continue to flourish in the future. The future of Stockport’s economy is bright, which is why so many companies have chosen to invest in the town over the past year. Once again Stockport has shown itself to offer the prospect of huge opportunities to companies and continues to cement its standing as a hot business location.”
