Wormald returns to take charge of LDC

Carl Wormald

Private equity firm LDC has appointed Carl Wormald as head of its North West region.

Mr Wormald, who was previously joint head of the firm’s Manchester office alongside Ray Stenton, relocated to London last year but is returning following Mr Stenton’s decision to leave the firm. He will now be responsible for LDC’s eight-strong regional team across its offices in Manchester and Liverpool.

Mr Wormald has previously led some of LDC’s biggest deals in the region, including the £100m buyout of Middlewich-based British Salt and the £120m sale of Warrington-based parcel firm ANC to Fedex Corporation.

“Over the last 10 years, LDC has been the most active and supportive private equity investor in the North West region,” he said.

“With this momentum, combined with our continued access to significant funding, I’m looking forward to strengthening LDC’s commitment to the local market and cementing our position as the leading, through-the-cycle investor for the region’s best businesses and brightest management teams.”

LDC’s chief executive officer Darryl Eales said: “LDC’s UK regional network is a critical aspect of our investment approach and over the years the North West has been a key strategic region for us. Our commitment to Manchester and the wider region remains undiminished.

“Carl’s outstanding pedigree in LDC makes him the ideal candidate to lead our operations in the North West and I wish him every success in the role.”
