Solite invests in S:Park factory

LIGHTING business Solite is investing £1.4m in a new Manchester factory.

The company, a subsidiary of Redditch-based FW Thorpe, specialises in lighting for clean rooms and laboratories.

It is moving from a 10,000 sq ft leased unit in Denton to Chancerygate’s S:Park scheme next to the M60 in Stockport where it has acquired a 13,000 sq ft unit on a design and build basis.

The lease was due to expire in Denton and the company said it was keen to own its own site. The new facility, which will employ 15 staff, should be finished by November.

In FW Thorpe’s annual results statement chairman Andrew Thorpe said: “Solite, manufacturer of cleanroom lighting systems has been widening its customer base since the appointment of a new sales director some 18 months ago. Progress has also been made during the year in introducing LED technology throughout their product portfolio.

“The new factory location is within easy reach of most current employees and there should be little disruption in regard to staff, therefore. Results for the year have shown an increase in revenue of some 43% and a significantly increased profit.”
