Restoration for Royal Liver Building

INSURANCE and pensions group Royal London is carrying out renovation work at its grade I-listed Royal Liver Building in Liverpool, one of the city’s Three Graces.

The work will involve the external repair and restoration of the four main domes and eight smaller domes.

Two spiral staircases will be restored and the timber speaker housing in the west tower will be replaced.

CBRE’s building consultancy team has been instructed to manage the work and it has appointed Northwich-based restoration specialist Quadriga Contracts. The project should be finished by the summer.

CBRE surveyor Peter Rigby said: “This is an exciting and rare opportunity to restore and enhance one of the North West’s most iconic buildings which occupies a prominent position on the waterfront in Liverpool. The sensitive restoration works will ensure that this important landmark stands the test of time and we are looking forward to seeing the work progressing over the forthcoming weeks.”
